AFAAS operates within the framework of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP). It signed an MoU with African Union Commission (AUC) in April 2015, legitimizing it as AUC institution for AEAS in Africa. This MoU is being reviewed for renewal. AFAAS is one of the key African institution contributing to the AUC goal of delivering average annual growth rate of 6% GDP as enshrined in the CAADP agenda. AFAAS, specifically, focuses on knowledge and innovations’ support for enhancing the utilization and adoption of productivity-enhancing technologies, value-adding processes and postharvest practices in the value chains within which smallholder producers are embedded. It operates through Country Fora (CF), established as multi stakeholder fora for AEAS actors at national level.
