These include activities that will commence preceding the Hackathon. Key activities will include the following:
Registration: Participants will be required to sign up for the hackathon in teams of between two (2) – five (5). Participants are required to be 18 years and above. Should a participant be below 18 years, they will require parental/guardian consent to participate.
How to Register: Participants can only register to join the event using the AFAAS AgriHack registration portal on the website, which facilitates tracking all participant needs and information relay during the event. It also serves as a platform for sharing information related to the hackathon and keeping the community engaged post-event
Pre-Workshops: The Hackathon will be preceded by a series of capacity-building workshops on potential Use Cases expected by AFAAS, tools, APIs, and the development environments participants will be using for the project development.
Orientations: The event will be virtual and a combination of several tools will be used to streamline the collaboration between CIKM Country teams, participants, facilitators, judges, speakers and mentors. In lieu of this, a series of orientation sessions will be organized to familiarize each group of stakeholders to ensure they are abreast with all the tools and well prepared for smooth production.
The event will be hosted virtually and in 4 parts:
a. The Opening Ceremony
b. The Workshops
c. The Hackathon & Judging
d. Announcing the Finalist for the grande event
a. The workshops will be hosted via Zoom to all participants
b. Workshops will be require selected AFAAS experts to speak on the various problem statements
a. Participating teams will be given 48 hours to develop an Agric focused solution to address challenges in the defined verticals.
b. Participants will use tech tools and resources made available during the hackathon to develop the solutions.
c. All teams will be required to submit their project source codes for vetting by the code review technology eam through Github branches created for them.
d. All pitch decks will be submitted via google dedicated google forms
e. Judges and the code review team will have 24 hours to vet and shortlist the top 6 projects (2/vertical) that will qualify to participate in the grande event in November.
Announcing the Winners
Announcing the winners will be done via email and on the D4AEAS portal.
